Bio: Executive Director Cory Poris Plasch

Cory Poris Plasch joined the Center for Governmental Studies at Northern Illinois University in 2014. She is a research associate at CGS and assists with association management and public management and training. The Ely Chapter of LAI is one of several accounts Cory manages. Prior to joining CGS, Cory had experience in membership based associations, including being the Executive Director of a 420 member Chamber of Commerce and serving as a director on the Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce Board for several years. Additional previous experience in the public sector includes 5 years as a 911 dispatcher, two years as Deputy Liquor Commissioner, as well as experience in the private sector as a small business owner for 5 years.

She received her Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Northern Illinois University in May of 2015 and was inducted into Pi Alpha Alpha, the global honor society for public affairs and administration. Cory graduated cum laude from NIU with a degree in political science in 2002.

Cory and her husband live in Batavia and have six children, ages 11 to 23. When not at work or attending a sports or school event, she enjoys jogging, yoga, and an evening of Uno with the kids, (especially as that is the only card game she has even a hope of winning!)
